Northeast Psychological Wellness
Covid-19 stops many of us from being able to go to in person therapy and psychiatry appointments. However, teletherapy is an option that helps many people. Teletherapy is essentially remote therapy that allows therapist and patients to communicate through technology.
Northeast Psychological provides teletherapy. After working closely with them, we can assure you that their services will meet your teletherapy needs.

Affordable Therapy
At State of Mind, we believe that mental health support and therapy should be affordable and accessible. It shouldn't be a privilege only some have; therefore, we have created a list of affordable and accessible therapy types.

Organizations to Connect You with Affordable Online Counseling
Below are two organizations that work to help teens connect with affordable, online counseling with a certified specialist. Click on the organization names to access their websites and find more information about their resources.

Free and Affordable Mental Health Clinics
If you do not have health insurance or the means to pay for a therapist, there are free community mental health clinics that can provide care. The clinics are staffed by psychotherapists and psychologists, and many other licensed and experienced professionals. Not all clinics are completely free, but many are at an extremely reduced rate.
To find a clinic in your local area, contact the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) HelpLine or go to MentalHealth.gov. Your primary care physician can also provide recommendations in your community.

In-School Services
Many schools offer in school counseling services that are completely free and available to all students. If you are currently enrolled in highschool and are seeking mental health support or just need someone to talk to, your first step should be reaching out to your school community. School Psychologists are there for you, and are always open to talking with you and helping you get additional mental health support.
Teens enrolled in the public school system who are diagnosed by an appointed school psychologist with learning disabilities can potentially qualify for a Individualized Education Plan (IEP) which can make you eligible for free therapeutic services.
If you are currently in college, go to your college’s counseling center. Many colleges offer free treatment to students on campus. If your university does not have a counseling center, ask an administrator, RA, or health center and ask for a list of resources with reduced-fee treatment options in your area.
Teletherapy
Teletherapy is essentially remote therapy that allows therapists and patients to communicate through technology. Websites and apps like, Talkspace, BetterHelp, and Teencounseling can help you connect with a therapist online or via text. Teletherapy is very convenient for students because you can talk to your therapist from anywhere.
To find a therapist, one of these websites or apps will ask you to complete a mental health questionnaire. Based on those results, each new client is matched with a psychotherapist. Similar to in-person therapy, fees for online therapy vary. Betterhelp charges between $35-$80 per week, and Talkspace fees are as low as $65 per week.
Teletherapy is both affordable and convenient; however, it's not for everyone. If you are struggling with more severe mental disorders such as PTSD or Schizophrenia, please go to an in-person visit with a healthcare professional to make sure your needs are being met.

There are also websites that can help you connect with teletherapist such as Thero.org which has a filter option to search for providers that offer teletherapy, Psychology Today can show you practitioners who do video counseling, and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America has a directory of members who provide telehealth services.
After working closely with Northeast Psychological, a New York based practice that specializes in teletherapy, we can assure you that their services will meet your teletherapy needs and is a great teletherapy option.
